Anaïka FrançoisDoctoral studentAnaïka (she/her) has a bachelor's in Psychology from the Université de Montréal and will begin her PhD in clinical psychology research-intervention under the supervision of Dr. Beáta Bőthe in the fall of 2023. Her main research interests lie in the articulation of issues related to pornography use and obsessive sexual behaviors within an intersectional paradigm. Anaïka is the recipient of a graduate scholarship from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et culture (FRQSC) for 2023-2025.

Émilie GaudetDoctoral student
Émilie is a research assistant for Dr. Beáta Bőthe’s STAR Laboratory since May 2022. She holds a major in psychology from Université de Montréal (2023) and a bachelor’s degree in film from Université du Québec à Montréal (2005). As of 2023, she is pursuing her Ph.D. in psychology at Université de Montréal to become a clinical psychologist and researcher.
For her Ph.D., Émilie is working on the development, psychological impact and treatment of behavioral addictions, a natural extension of her projects with Dr. Bőthe. In 2023, she presented some of her research findings as first author at the International Conference on Behavioral Addictions (ICBA) and at the Annual Conference of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research (SSTAR). |
Aurélie MichaudDoctoral student
Aurélie Michaud (she/her) will begin her doctorate in clinical psychology (D.Psy) at the University of Montreal in September 2023, under the supervision of Dr. Beáta Bőthe. Before completing a major in psychology at the Université de Montréal, she obtained a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in business intelligence at HEC Montréal, and worked as a data scientist and as a lecturer in statistics. Her research interests include behavioral addictions, couple dynamics and cultural aspects of sexuality.

Léna Nagy
Doctoral student
Léna (she/her) started her PhD in 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Beáta Bőthe and Dr. Demetrovics Zsolt at ELTE Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary. She has an MA in psychology with a clinical and health psychology major and graduated as a licensed sex therapist in 2023. Acting as a co-investigator for the International Sex Survey from 2020 onward, Léna is also actively engaged in various international collaborations. She researches a spectrum of topics, encompassing sexual traumas and associated factors like sexual assertiveness, as well as compulsive or otherwise problematic sexual behaviors. During the years, she presented her research at numerous international conferences (e.g., ICBA, IASR) and won grants such as the Corley Research Grant and the scholarship of the Hungarian National Excellence Programme.

Vanessa BeaulieuResearch assistantVanessa (she/her) holds a bachelor’s degree in film studies from the University of Montreal (2012), a teaching certification in yoga from Yoga Alliance (2020), and a Graduate diploma in Mental Health from University Teluq (2022). In September, she will begin her second year of studies in psychology at the University of Montréal and plans to continue her studies in clinical psychology at the doctoral level. She is particularly interested in the use of yoga as a complementary tool in the treatment of certain psychopathologies and physical/sexual traumas. Additionally, she is interested in science popularization (and perhaps pursuing an alternative path through the National Centre for Dance Therapy to become a dance therapist).

Research assistantAnne-Laurie (she/her) is a third-year undergraduate student in Psychology at the University of Montreal in the Honors program. She is doing her Laboratory 2 course at the STAR lab during the Summer 2023 semester. She has completed a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal and a certificate in Business Analysis at HEC Montréal. She is interested in mental health, stress biomarkers, couple dynamics and sexual dysfunctions. She wishes to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology (Research and Intervention).

Marianne Danella
Research assistantMarianne (she/they) is currently in her third year of her bachelor’s degree in psychology. Her goal is to pursue further studies in a doctoral program, specializing in clinical psychology to become a clinician. She has a strong passion for areas such as relationship psychology, sexology, gender and sexual diversity, sociology, self-identity exploration, psychopathology, and personality. Her research interests primarily focus on these areas. Currently, she is part of the STAR lab, where she continues a project that she initiated during one of her research classes (Laboratory 2).

Félix Dupuis-FortierResearch assistantFélix is currently a 3rd year undergraduate student in psychology at Université de Montréal. He joined the lab in May 2023. His research interests include sexual abuse, complex trauma, attachment, personality disorders and mentalization. He also wishes to pursue his doctorate in clinical psychology. His desire to adopt a multidisciplinary approach reflects his strong belief in the importance of collaboration and integration of knowledge to improve therapeutic outcomes.

Fabiola Ngamaleu TeumeniResearch assistantFabiola (she/her) is a first year undergraduate student in psychology at the University of Montreal. She is a research assistant in Dr. Bőthe's Sexuality, Technology and Addictions Laboratory since February 2023. Wishing to pursue her doctoral studies in clinical psychology, her main research interests focus on the intersectional perspective of compulsive sexual behaviors in adults and seniors.

Rosalie (she/her) is a 2nd year student in the Bachelor of Psychology at the University of Montreal. She has been a member of Dr. Bőthe’s laboratory since April 2023. She is interested in the different traumatic experiences during childhood and their impact on the development of sexuality and attachment. She plans to pursue her doctoral studies in research and intervention in clinical psychology.
